This week during the Jones fire in Nevada County, we lost an amazing hiking and landscape location in Nevada City. At this moment, we don’t know the level of damage, but we have seen photos of the boardwalks burning. These are a few photos from the location:
State Fair with Becca
I went with Model Becca to the state fair and captured some fun colorful shots.
Woodland Sunflowers
All photographers have a bucket list of places they want to photograph. The Woodland sunflower fields is one of those places.
While the sky wasn't very exciting, I am still happy with the "hot summer" look I managed to get from a few of my images.
I used photoshop to blend multiple exposures to keep as much of the image in focus as possible.
This old oak tree is the element that makes this field super popular with photographers.
All of my images from this trip were taken with the Fujifilm X-T2, while this iPhone X image produce really outstanding color.
Red White and Blue
I have always loved shooting rusty things and Empire Mine State Park is the motherload for rusty history. Add some snow and everything changes. I went out early on Sunday morning to try and see if I could capture the snow mixed in with the gold mining equipment, before the snow melted.
The park was closed when I first arrived, but i was able to shoot this over the fence from the parking lot. The sky was pretty dark still at this time of the morning.
When I returned 2 hours later, much of the snow had already melted.
Shooting in the snow is new to me, and the biggest challenge has been to keep the white balance as close as possible, without the snow turning blue or the highlights being blown out.
